Bohemia Interactive has announced Arma 2 Free (A2F), a free-to-play multiplayer version of critically acclaimed military-sim, Arma 2, due for release this month.

Described as an authentic and accurate battlefield simulation, A2F allows you to create your own custom-built scenarios or play a selection of missions and game-modes made by others.

As this version is entirely multiplayer focused, however, there is no single-player campaign mode or support for user-made add-ons and mods. Bizarrely you won’t get high definition visuals either.
