Sony’s PlayStation Vita will launch with six augmented reality cards, providing free games to download from the PlayStation Store, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced last night.
The games promise to make full use of the AR capabilities of PS Vita.
It was also revealed that PS Vita will be the first games console to utilise WAAR (Wide Area Augmented Reality) technology. WAAR can use up to six cards simultaneously – in contrast to the familiar single-card AR – opening up new gameplay possibilities.
Vita will also support markerless AR, doing away with cards altogether.
PS Vita will launch in Europe on February 22, with an impressive line-up of 11 first-party games.
