Nintendo has partnered with O2 to provide additional Wi-Fi internet access to 3DS users across 7,000 UK hotspots.

3DS units will now automatically connect to the internet for free when they enter locations covered by the O2 WiFi service. Locations include the likes of McDonalds, Debenhams, Pizza Hut, Costa Coffee, House of Fraser, Toby Carvery, plus venues such as The O2, Twickenham and Bluewater.

When you are near to a compatible area, the 3DS’s Nintendo Zone icon will blink to notify you that free Wi-Fi internet access is available.

The O2 WiFi partnership with Nintendo is now live in selected hotspot areas, with a full roll out due over the coming weeks.
