Titan Books will release four Mass Effect novels tied in to the upcoming Mass Effect Andromeda, a release by the publisher relating to the the earlier March London Book Fair has revealed.

New novels are planned beginning in August 2016, with the final novel set for March 2018. These dates may change given the release is based on the then planned late 2016 launch of Andromeda – now set for early 2017.

“With a new game – Mass Effect: Andromeda – set for release in 2016, the launch of a new series of canonical novels is timely,” explains the Titan Books release. “While earlier Mass Effect games focused on the defense of the Milky Way galaxy, with humans pitted against a race of ruthless mechanical invaders known as the Reapers, the new story will take the game in a dramatic new direction and is set in a new region of space, with a new and deadly enemy.”

“The novels will act as prequel and sequels to the events in the games and will become part of the overarching Mass Effect saga. They will focus on key characters and answer the many questions fans have been asking.”

Mass Effect: Andromeda Initiation is the first novel, penned by Brooklyn fiction author N(ora). K. Jemisin. This will be followed by untitled novels in March 2017 and September 2017. The final novel will be written by Mass Effect creative director Mac Walters.
