Fortnite's sixth season is upon us, launching this morning at 09:00 BST (4am ET / 1am PT), and there has been a number of changes to the map, to general gameplay, and there is a new Battle Pass. Let's dig in.

Pets are now a thing. The official patch notes read, 'Always have a friend watching your back when you drop in,' and there is an accompanying picture (above) of a dog, a chamelon, and a baby dragon. Brilliant, obviously.

A new consumable has been added, called Shadow Stones. These are 'typically found around corrupted areas of the map,' and they will shift you into a 'Shadow Form,' meaning you will be invisible while stationary, unable to use weapons. It also grants you a new ability, called Phase, which 'Propels you in the direction you are facing, and allows you to pass through objects.'

There have been changes made to the map, which Epic describes as, 'Islands floating, crops growing, Storm approaching.'
