The latest patch notes have arrived to mark the commencement of Fortnite's ninth season of content, and as we've come to expect Epic Games has introduced a bunch of new content and tweaks to their enormously succesful battle royale shooter.

First up are the changes in the map. The recently introduced volcano erupted towards the end of Season 8, and after some destruction during the weekend's Unvaulting event, new points of interest have emerged including the futuristic looking Neo Tilted and Mega Mall. In addition, new Slipstreams have popped up, allowing players to use the power of wind to traverse the map.

On top of this, new 'Fortbytes' have been added to the Battle Pass, which are 100 computer chips around the island – 18 to begin with, and a new one added every day of the season. Collect them all to unlock rewards and 'uncover the secrets of Season 9'.

There's a huge range of other changes and tweaks of course, far more than we could possibly include in one news post, so you can read the full patch notes here while you wait for the servers to return after the downtime to implement the update later today. The Battle Pass, as ever, costs 950 V-Bucks.
