A Fortnite ranked mode will apparently be arriving soon after developer Epic Games recently released a short clip teasing the competitive battle royale match type. Although the short clip didn’t exactly reveal much in terms of its ruleset and features, the snippet did exhibit the different skill tiers that players could progress through, starting from the lowly Bronze rank all the way to what looks like the prestigious Iridescent tier.

According to Epic Games’ official announcement post, there will be a total of eight ranks that players can attain during a season. Aside from the aforementioned bottom and top tiers, the typical Silver, Gold, Diamond, and Platinum divisions will similarly be included. Keep in mind, though, that the names for each rank is yet to be confirmed by the developers so this may still change once the competitive mode gets released.

Unfortunately, a release date for ranked play is yet to be disclosed by the developers so players will have to remain patient for the time being. However, we will most likely be getting more information about the competitive mode over the course of the next few weeks since the next season is only less than a month away. With this in mind, the wait could be shorter than expected and it may only be a matter of time before it’s introduced into the game.

With Fortnite already set to become an official Olympic Esport this June, it seems like Epic Games won’t be putting the brakes on any time soon as they continue to improve upon their genre-defining battle royale installment. Now that several collaborations have already made their way into the game such as the most recent Attack on Titan crossover, fans will undoubtedly be more excited than ever to start hopping in to the Battle Bus again.
