Fortnite is one of the most popular video games of all time. Epic Games released it in 2017, and ever since then, it’s broken numerous records. Some of these records may never be broken, which shows how popular the game was during certain periods.

With over 500 million players in total, Fortnite has reached players in every part of the world. However, the latest leak shows how popular it was during its first few years. This information comes from Microsoft’s leak that showed a lot of other details, including the design of a new Xbox console.

This article will reveal everything you need to know about Fortnite’s popularity.

Fortnite players spent nearly 11 billion minutes playing it on Xbox

According to the Microsoft leak, Fortnite’s popularity was off the charts in its first few years. From 2015 to 2019, it was the most popular game on Xbox. This is even more impressive considering that Fortnite was released in 2017, meaning that it achieved more than any other game, despite being out for a shorter period.

Fortnite players spent 10.9 billion minutes playing the battle royale game in less than 3 years. The average yearly playtime was 212 hours, which comes down to just under 9 days, while the game had 12.8 million million users on average.

It’s important to note that these are only the stats from Xbox. Microsoft’s gaming console is popular, but not as popular as its main competitor, Sony PlayStation. Due to this, there’s a good chance that Fortnite had more than 100 million monthly players during this period.

To put this into perspective, the battle royale game has 70 million monthly users in 2023. Considering that it’s been out for six years, this number is very impressive. While Fortnite is no longer at its peak, it’s still much more popular than nearly any other game.
