Penny Arcade, the most popular online comic in the world, is branching out into a video game. The strip’s regular characters Tycho and Gabe are to star in an episodic PC and Mac adventure game set in a steampunk meets H.P. Lovecraft alternate Penny Arcade universe.

Consulting on the game’s design is Ron Gilbert, creator of classic adventure games The Secret of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion. Penny Arcade Adventures will feature a blend of classic adventure and role-playing combat set in the 1920s.

The game has been scripted by Jerry Holkins in a style that will be familiar to Penny Arcade fans and many of the favourite Penny Arcade characters will feature, including Gabe, Tycho, Annarchy and The Fruit F*cker 2000.

Look out for the game’s first episode later this year, but for know head over to Pro-G TV for the first trailer.
