Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced the launch of stereoscopic 3D gaming for the PS3, giving gamers the ability to experience some of the console’s best games in an all-new way.

The stereoscopic 3D Collection includes PS3 classics WipEout HD, SuperStardust HD, PAIN, plus an exclusive single level demo of MotorStorm: Pacific Rift. The titles are available for £23.99 downloadable from PlayStation Store or free with a Sony Bravia 3D TV package.

WipEout HD

The stereoscopic 3D Collection will include the full game, with the exception of the separately sold Fury downloadable content (DLC).

PAIN

Give a whole host of annoying characters and the odd celebrity their just desserts in this incredibly addictive PlayStation Network favourite that lets you fling them from a giant catapult into walls, windows, tanks of gas, piles of tyres…and the occasional clown. The stereoscopic 3D Collection will include the Downtown area and tutorial along with three modes, including two new modes created specifically with stereoscopic 3D in mind, Alien Toss and Ice Blocks.

SuperStardust HD

Bringing intense, intergalactic shooting action into another dimension, SuperStardust HD will transport you into a spectacular space setting where you’ll fight to obliterate gigantic asteroids as they rain down into terrestrial orbit and threaten to destroy entire planets. Experience asteroids fly past you as you navigate the deadly battleground – only a battle on a cosmic level will save the indigenous life below from destruction.

MotorStorm 3D Pacific Rift Demo

Available exclusively as part of the stereoscopic 3D Collection, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift in stereoscopic 3D is where you’ll experience the ride of your life. The demo puts you in the driver’s seat of a buggy for a one track, single player race around the deadly Kanaloa Bay for a dangerously real battle against ruthless opponents.

“PlayStation has always been about outstanding entertainment. The stereoscopic 3D Collection showcases the depth of technology behind PS3 and gives us a feel for the potential for future releases,” said SCEE President Andrew House. “Stereoscopic 3D technology coupled with the likes of PlayStation Move motion controller allows us to create an ever more compelling, realistic and immersive experience. Add to that our online capabilities, community interaction features, our film and music services and you’ve got a very exciting proposition for the future of home entertainment.”

WipEout HD, PAIN and SuperStardust HD are available as part of the stereoscopic 3D Collection or alternatively are available individually at their current prices. Those who already own the games can upgrade their titles to stereoscopic 3D via a free patch.
