Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon will be out in the UK on December 5 2008, Nintendo has confirmed. The DS remake of the classic 1990 NES RPG will also sport a multiplayer option over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, a first for the series.

The original NES game, titled Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, was never released in Europe despite becoming the most popular in the series in Japan.

Nintendo promises polished graphics, new side stories, varied difficulty levels and controls that make use of the DS touch screen.

Via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, you’ll be able to fight other players over the internet or locally. You’ll be able to trash talk as you battle via the Mic Chat, too.

Playing over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection also offers access to a special armoury shop where players can buy special items that allow them to gain a new class of character and also sell weapons to make money. Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection also enables players to loan their units to other players in order to provide a boost to that player’s forces. Additional units can be uploaded to a server and also borrowed from the server or from a friend by exchanging friend codes.
