Square Enix isn’t planning another numbered sequel to Final Fantasy XIII, despite the publisher having registered the Final Fantasy XIII-3 domain name.

It turns out the domain was registered a few months back by the US wing of Square Enix without the knowledge of Square Enix Japan. According to Square Enix PR Akio Ofuji, chatting during the latest Square Enix Channel Radio broadcast, the domain name was registered merely as a precaution.

Both Ofuji and Square Enix Channel Radio host Asukra Nishi – who’s also a voice actress – heard about the FFXIII-3 rumours on the internet. Nishi was interested in getting a part in the rumoured sequel.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be released February 3 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
