Final Fantasy XII was released in Japan back in March, and the game is set arrive in North America in October. Today Square Enix has announced that the European release will miss the holiday season, instead finding its way to retail early in 2007.

We are very excited to be bringing Final Fantasy XII to Europe and PAL territories next year. The game has been a massive success in Japan and looks set to become one of the crowning glories of PlayStation 2,” said John Yamamoto, President and CEO of Square Enix Ltd.

The release date doesn’t come as a great shock, given the usual delay in localising RPGs, but the 2007 release will still come as a disappointment to PlayStation 2 owners hoping to get their hands on the game this Christmas.
