Since the game’s release in Japan on March 16, 2006, it has gone on to sell more than 2.4 million units in Japan alone. The main reason the game will have taken seven months to make the transition from Japan to the US is that it will feature completely new voiced cut-scenes added for the North American release. The PlayStation 2 exclusive title will be available in both a Standard and Collector’s Edition, the latter costing $10 more at $59.99.

This Collector’s Edition will be available at GameStop and EB Games stores, plus their e-commerce sites. For the extra ten bucks you get special packaging, and a bonus DVD stuffed full of extra FF goodness, like Japanese and American promo trailers, in-depth developer interviews, an art gallery, and features focussing on the highlights of the franchise.

There’s still no official word on a European release date.
