The upcoming HD remakes of Final Fantasy X & Final Fantasy X-2 were outsourced to Chinese company Virtuos, the developer has announced.

In an update on the company’s website, Virtuous said that the project was “a new milestone” for the team and “its biggest project to date”. Both the PS3 and PS Vita versions are believed to have been developed by the team.

Virtuos regularly contributes to major AAA releases, providing art assets for games such as The Last of Us, and is responsible for porting multiple titles to handheld and mobile titles, including last year’s iOS adaptation of XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster released in Japan during December and is due to release in the UK and North America in March.
