Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, a high-definition remastering of the classic PS2 JRPGs due for release on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in 2013.

Though Square has yet to announce specific details about the remasters, the games’ initial screenshots suggest that the resolution has been increased to support native 1080p and higher resolution textures.

“These games are classic fan-favourites, and we hope that new and old Final Fantasy fans can experience the world of Spira and the story of Tidus and Yuna in a brand-new light with these remastered editions,”  said the games’ producer Yoshinori Kitase.

Both games will be available to buy on a single-disc release on PS3, and individually on PlayStation Vita.
