Speaking at a Final Fantasy XIII-2 fan meeting in Tokyo on Friday, Square Enix’s Yoshinori Kitase – producer on the Fabula Nova Crystallis series – revealed that Final Fantasy Versus XIII has now entered full development.

When quizzed on the project by anxious fans, Kitase replied: “For Type-0 and Versus XIII we are giving 100% to development.”

In July, Kitase revealed that the game had still yet to enter full production, even though the game had been announced back at E3 in 2006.

Given that Final Fantasy XIII-2 is due in January, fans of the series were becoming distressed at how long Versus XIII was taking. Responding to this, Kitase said that this is down to the relatively brief development time for Final Fantasy XIII-2, which has been made possible due to know-how gained from the original.

Despite now being given the time it deserves, Final Fantasy Versus XIII won’t be making an appearance at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.
