Wizards of the Coast’s Magic the Gathering crossover sets have pulled some insane numbers, but the official Final Fantasy crossover appears to be the best one yet.

Magic the Gathering x Final Fantasy breaks Hasbro records

Confirmed in a recent earnings call by Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks, the Final Fantasy set managed to sell $200 million worth of trading cards in just a single day.

This impressive feat makes the crossover set Wizards’ most successful one yet. In the same earnings call, Cocks revealed that the previously hugely-hyped Lord of the Rings crossover took “six months to deliver $200 million in revenue”.

Cocks said that Hasbro and Wizards “couldn’t produce enough” to keep up the sheer demand for the Magic the Gathering crossover. Despite massively ramping up production of the Final Fantasy set, there was even higher demand for the release than Hasbro expected.

“I think we increased production runs on it 4x pre-release,” Cocks said. “It was substantially by many, many very high double-digit percentages ahead of any other production run we’ve ever done, and we left the market wanting more.”

The Hasbro CEO explained that the team “left demand on the table”, suggesting that even more revenue could’ve been made if the company continued to produce the set en masse. As it stands, this is still, by far, the biggest crossover in Magic the Gathering history.

Over the years, Magic the Gathering’s crossover sets have increased drastically in pace with Doctor Who, Assassin’s Creed and other franchises joining the fray.

Later this year, Magic the Gathering will receive an exciting Spider-Man crossover featuring Peter Parker, Miles Morales, Venom and more. That set launches on September 26, 2025. After that, the final collab set of 2025 is Avatar: The Last Airbender which will release on November 21 and feature a host of characters from the animated series.
