Square Enix has announced during its recent livestream that its fast-paced strategic brawler, Dissidia Final Fantasy, would be getting a new character from Final Fantasy X. Jecht will be joining the roster, and it looks likely he’ll make his debut in the August update for the strategic brawler in arcades. There’s also a trailer that shows him kicking a blitzball, and his sons arse. Quality stuff.

Final Fantasy X story spoiler follows.

Jecht was a non-playable character in Final Fantasy X. He’s Tidus’ father and, as well as being a famous blitzball player, was one of High Summoner Braska’s legendary guardians. He’s also a big, well-bronzed, muscular drinker… proper father figure, eh?

Square Enix has been teasing a new character for the game each month. This’ll probably focus on the game’s various villains over the next few months, as the roster builds up to the 20+ Final Fantasy heroes and villains who’ll compete in team-based brawls.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is due to be released worldwide in early 2018 for PS4.
