UPDATE:

Square Enix has also confirmed that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is heading to Nintendo Switch.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Square Enix has announced that it's bringing Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered to PlayStation 4 next year.

So far the game has only been announced for a Japanese release, although that's probably not a surprise considering it was announced at Sony's pre-Tokyo Game Show press event earlier this morning.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered will come repackaged with multiplayer functionality, although not much else about the game has been revealed at present.

The original Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was released on the GameCube in Japan back in 2003, and arrived in the US and UK the following year. At the time it was a pretty big deal, as it was the first entry in the series to arrive on a Nintendo console since Final Fantasy VI back in the 90s.

Unlike the mainline Final Fantasy games however, Crystal Chronicles is a spinoff game that focuses on cooperative play, hence probably why Square's added online multiplayer for the remaster.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered is due out in 2019 on PS4.
