FIFA Mobile has launched worldwide for iOS, Android and Windows 10, promising a “quick, fun, accessible football game” complete with all the authenticity you’d expect from a FIFA title.

Senior producer Todd Batty explains how the development team focused delivering on the most exciting parts of football.

“This meant building a game that was optimized for the mobile player resulting in a fun and social game that loads quickly, runs smoothly on a wider range of devices, and has a small download size relative to the depth of features and content in the game.”

Attack Mode appears especially geared towards quickfire mobile play with the focus on scoring goals. The turn-based mode sees players attempting to make the most of attacking scenarios by scoring a goal. After each attack the action is passed to the opponent who must then try to score. Scoring goals will help players earn more in-game Fans which in turn make it possible to climb divisions.

In addition to a slightly stripped down Ultimate Team experience (your team features one player for every position with no need to worry about substitutes), a new Plans system has been introduced. Plans is a crafting system which allows players to make use of unwanted in-game items (earned through Live Events, Attack Mode or from opening Packs) to earn more desirable things. Some plans will unlock the most highly rated players in the game.

All this is linked to events taking place in the real world, with live content delivered daily.

Whilst certainly a long way short of the console experience, FIFA Mobile does at least appear to be offering something a little different for those moments when you’re not sat on the sofa with your PS4.
