EA’s FIFA 17 makes it three consecutive weeks at No.1, despite a wave of new releases attempting to knock it down.

Gears of War 4 was the biggest challenger, but had to settle for second place unable to compete with the multi-platform selling power of FIFA. Mafia 3 dropped into third, followed by 2K stablemate WWE 2K17 at No.4. Square Enix’s Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Edition is new at fifth after finally arriving on PS4. Elsewhere Skylanders Imaginators is new at 8th, whilst PES 2017 exists the Top 10 for the first time since launch, slipping quite dramatically down to 21st.

PlayStation VR Worlds is the highest placed PS VR launch title at seventh, and is one of eight PS VR retail games available at day one which made the Top 40. Hustle Kings is the only PS VR launch title to miss out on a Top 40 entry.

Battlefield 1 launches this week, and will likely end FIFA 17’s run at the top of the chart. With the shooter genre looking super competitive this holiday season it will be very interesting to see how well Microsoft’s Gears of War 4 holds up against the multi-format competition.
