MCV reports hat EA’s FIFA 09 has become the fastest game in the series to reach one million units sold in the UK.
EA has revealed that it took the game only five weeks to reach the one million mark, bettering the franchise’s previous record by a full month. The achievement means the FIFA franchise has now notched up UK sales of 10 million over the last five years.
“We are delighted with the success of FIFA 09,” said Dan Holman, marketing manager for EA Sports. “We have continued to listen to gamers and football fans and the result has been the fastest-selling FIFA game in franchise history.”
Sales for the title aren’t expected to stop any time soon, with EA ready to support the game with a season-long PR and marketing campaign.
