The demo of upcoming Square Enix RPG Final Fantasy XIII, which comes with the Japanese Blu-ray release Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete, has lead to an astonishing quadrupling of sales of the PS3 in Japan.
According to Japanese sales tracker Media Create, via Kotaku, the PS3 sold 62,527 units from April 13-19 in Japan. The previous week Sony’s console shifted 16,701.
The impressive figures are sure to give Square Enix confidence that the game, which is still without a Western release date, will tear up sales charts at least in Japan.
Unfortunately for European fans, there’s no word from Square Enix on a FFXIII demo release on these shores.
The figures in full:
PlayStation 3 – 62,527
PSP – 40,065
Nintendo DSi – 38,287
Wii – 13,221
Xbox 360 – 8,652
Nintendo DS Lite – 6,438
PlayStation 2 – 4,230
