Final Fantasy XIII-2 will feature an amusement park, where players can indulge in a spot of Chocobo racing, or drop some Gil in the casino, producer Yoshinori Kitase has revealed.

Speaking in one of Sony’s Play Live talk sessions at the Tokyo Game Show, Kitase revealed several additions to the game that fans of the series will be very excited to hear about.

FFXIII was criticised for its linear environments and lack of optional quests off the main path. Square Enix is looking to fix this with the sequel.

Much like Final Fantasy VII’s Gold Saucer, the amusement park will offer a range of mini-games to alleviate the pressures of saving the world. While a casino and Chocobo racing have now been confirmed, it’s not yet known whether players will be able to breed the big yellow birds as with FFVIII.

Kitase also revealed plans for DLC, which will offer extra weapons, costumes and monsters for those looking to extend the life of the game.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is due for release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 February 3
