The NPD Group has released software sales figures in the US for the month of February 2009, revealing Wii Fit as the top selling title on a single format.

Wii Fit’s 644,000 units was enough to see it place ahead of Capcom’s Street Fighter IV, which claimed second and third places on Xbox 360 (446,000) and PS3 (403,000) – a combined 849,000 units.

“A long-established video game franchise, the Street Fighter property continues to generate impressive sales results,” said NPD analyst Anita Frazier. “The great performance of the new title, Street Fighter IV, on both the PS3 and Xbox 360, is a testament to the power of carefully cultivating evergreen properties.”

Wii Play sold 386,000 units, while Killzone 2’s brief availability at the back end of the month was enough to notch up 323,000 units. Mario Kart Wii sold 263,000 units, followed by CoD: World at War on Xbox 360 (193,000 units), Mario Kart DS (145,000), New Super Mario Bros. (144,000) and Guitar Hero World Tour on Wii (136,000).
