MTV Multiplayer has exclusively revealed that Koei’s Xbox 360 futuristic racing game Fatal Inertia is to get a second chance as a downloadable game on PSN.

Fatal Inertia EX is scheduled for release on PSN in May, priced $29.99 and promises to be en enhanced version of the game previously seen on Xbox 360.

“After the launch of the Xbox 360 version, we had a unique situation that allowed us to reflect on what could be done with the PlayStation 3 version,” lead producer Mike Bond told MTV Multiplayer. “But having watched the growth of the PlayStation Network’s user base and the game’s multiplayer component, we felt the strength of this game would be in its online community.”

Fatal Inertia EX features a number of new features and gameplay tweaks, including a new training venue with eight tracks – the Fatal Inertia Proving Ground – designed to ease players into proceedings. Once you’re good enough there’s also a new Master difficulty level that should test even the best racers.

The PSN game will also sport new weather effects, split-screen career racing, eight player online races and 59 race tracks. The game will also feature support for the Dual Shock 3 and will offer players the option to use the motion control functionality inside the Dual Shock 3 and Sixaxis.
