Ubisoft’s Far Cry 5 has debuted at number one on the UK All Format Chart, making it the biggest new release of 2018 so far and becoming the fastest-selling entry in the popular open-world video game franchise to date.

The sequel released on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on March 27, and has managed to eclipse the launch success of fellow Ubisoft stablemates Assassin’s Creed Origins and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. That’s not a bad result, considering both of those games were among last year’s top 10 best-selling titles.

In terms of how well Far Cry 5 sold on each platform, Chart-Track confirmed that 60 percent of all copies sold were on the PlayStation 4. Note that the company does not take into account the number of digital copies sold, so we’re only talking physical sales here. If that wasn’t enough, the game also became the UK’s best-selling title for the 13th week of the year, beating BioShock Infinite in the process.

Colm spent many hours running around in Far Cry 5’s lush Hope County in an attempt to put a stop to Joseph Seed’s dastardly plans. He probably blew a lot of stuff up along the way too. When the dust settled, he declared it was an absolute cracker of a game.
