Bethesda has denied rumours claiming that it filed a trademark for a video game called ‘Fallout: Shadow of Boston’.
The trademark application, Bethesda says, is a “hoax”.
“The German trademark filing that’s making the rounds is a hoax,” Bethesda said in a tweet. “This didn’t come from our offices.”
This isn’t the first time a video game trademark application has been filed falsely, of course. Last October, a trademark application for Half-Life 3 sparked rumours that Valve was finally preparing to announce the long-awaited shooter. The application turned out to be false.
It also isn’t the first time that Fallout has found itself at the centre of a hoax. Last year one fan created Survivor2299.com, a site that many believed was a teaser for Fallout 4. Again, it turned out to be false.
Hoax or no hoax, a Fallout 4 announcement surely can’t be too far away now. VGX, perhaps?
