The Fallout London developers just posted a cryptic message on its Patreon. It’s an image of an character holding up five fingers in-front of a Vault sign, and said character is adorned in British military garbs.
It’s not clear what exactly this means, although there’s been a strong community focus on the five. Five days, weeks, months … years? Who knows.
The image is only available to those who have subscribed to the Patreon, though it’s been shared on Reddit already. “Can you imagine if it means nothing and we’re just getting trolled,” wrote one in response. Another has responded that it “would fit the PR team. They love manufacturing hype that gets them in hot water.”
Others have suggested a much more realistic hypothesis: “Discord chat now is in a 5 minute ‘slow mode’ to stop the spamming, that is the meaning of the 5.” This is a pretty likely option meant to tease Discord and Patreon members – which is unfortunate for those who actually just want to play the expansion.
The optimist in me wants it to be the start of a countdown. Whether or not this means that there’s going to be a full release after five-somethings are up, or if the end of the countdown will just signpost a release date announcement. We already know that Team FOLON has figured out a release date, and that GOG have evaluated the final build and it’s now back in the hands of the developers. It shouldn’t be too far away, and a December launch seems like the furthest it could possibly be.
The pessimist in me sees it as a cheeky jibe from the developers, and that there is little substance behind it at all.
With all of the delays that Fallout: London has seen in recent months, there’s a certain feeling of impatience brewing within the community. The Discord and subreddit are both currently tearing the reveal to pieces, while little information has been shared. What little updates are shared on Patreon are generally locked behind the paywall for a few days, though it seems the team are ramping up production as we close in on the day.
