Fallout 4 has become the third fastest-selling game of the year, knocking Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 off the top of the charts to enter as this week’s No.1.

The game’s strong week one sales mean that Fallout 4 managed to beat previous 2015 record holders Batman: Arkham Knight and The Witcher 3, slotting in behind FIFA 16 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 in this year’s record books.

53% of all physical copies sold in the UK were on PS4, with 41% sold on Xbox One. 6% were sold on PC, a figure that’s likely higher than usual due to the much-wanted Pip-Boy Edition. All Xbox One copies also came supplied with a free copy of Fallout 3.

Fallout 4 is also the fastest-selling game in the series, with week one sales up 213% over the franchise’s previous week one best-seller Fallout: New Vegas.

Bethesda announced last week that it had shipped approximately 12 million units to stores to meet day one demand, generating a revenue of around $750m.
