UPDATE: GAME has confirmed that all pre-orders of Fallout 4’s Pip-Boy Edition are safe, and that all orders will “receive an update on their order via email in the next 48 hours.”

“Thank you for your patience, your Pip-Boy Edition order is still reserved and will not be released for general sale.”

The retailer has yet to clarify why cancellation emails were sent to customers earlier today.

ORIGINAL STORY: Oh dear. Just days ahead of Fallout 4’s launch, UK retailer GAME is reported to have unexpectedly cancelled orders of the game’s highly-anticipated Pip-Boy Edition.

The £99.99 edition, which includes a replica model of the game’s Pip-Boy, is due to launch in the UK next Tuesday. But in an email sent to some customers this morning, the retailer said that it had “hit a few issues” when processing their order, citing problems with payment being taken from the customer’s bank or PayPal account.

“What this means is that we cannot collect payment or ship your order right now,” the email said. “Please contact Customer Service on 0208 827 0099 and we will re-place your order for you.”

GAME does not yet appear to have publicly acknowledged the issue, but has stated on Twitter that its customer service team is “currently experiencing a high volume of contact, thank you for your patience as we work hard to respond to everyone”.

Some customers have reported being kept on hold for over an hour waiting to speak to GAME’s customer service.

Fallout 4’s Pip-Boy Edition was only available to pre-order at GAME in the UK, with quantities expected to be strictly limited.

Other customers, meanwhile, have also received emails that appear to show multiple payments being taken, one for £99.99 and another for £83.32. It isn’t yet clear whether this means customers are being charged twice for the product, similar to what happened with Super Mario Maker earlier this year.

VideoGamer.com has contacted a GAME representative for comment, and to find out what affected customers can do to ensure they still get their copy.

Fallout 4 launches on PS4, Xbox One and PC next Tuesday, November 10.
