Gust and Koei Tecmo’s Fairy Tail game will add characters Rogue Cheney, Kagura Mikazuchi, Sherria Blendy, Sting Eucliffe, and Ichiya Vandalay Kotobuki to the role-playing adaptation of the anime (via Gematsu).

The five will join Natsu Dragneel, Lucy Heartfilia, Wendy Marvell, Gray Fullbuster, Erza Scarlet, Gajeel Redfox, and Juvia Lockser, and all will be playable. This means we’ve got three characters still to be revealed to fill out Fairy Tail’s roster. And, the additions will have their own strengths and susceptibilities to the types of magic used by allies and by enemies. A "highly strategic" approach will be required to emerge victorious from battle, because party members cannot move and must use attacks with varying ranges to eliminate the opposition.

The latest issue of Famitsu also mentioned four combat abilities coming to the game. These are Unison Raid, Awakening, Mode Change, and Super Magic. Awakening and Mode Change augment party members’ magic but not all will be able to receive the buff. Unison Raid is exactly what it says on the tin: two characters fuse their abilities to deliver a magical walloping. Of course, Makarov Dreyar will be about the gaff, and Super Magic will introduce him with his ultra magic to the battle. This particular ability has a certain likelihood of triggering as a result of continued magic cooperation.

Fairy Tail is set to launch for PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC in 2020.
