Fable Anniversary has been announced for release on Xbox 360 this holiday season. The news came via the latest Major Nelson podcast which saw the voice of Xbox chatting with Lionhead’s Ted Timmins.

The updated Xbox classic will feature all the Lost Chapters content and will be playable in full 1080p, with Unreal Engine 3 enabling improvements to lighting, animation and cutscenes. Textures, models, meshes, and particle effects have all been redone.

There’s also a tweaked control scheme to be more in-line with Fable 2 and 3, an overhauled user interface, improved loading times, a check-point save system and the addition of Achievements – these will be linked to player choice and consequence.

Whilst multiplayer hasn’t been added, leaderboards will be present for activities such as chicken kicking.

Once development is complete Timmins and his team will investigate the possibility of creating additional content.

Expect a full reveal at E3 next week.
