F1 2010 sells 2.3 million units globally

Codemasters’ F1 2010 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC has sold more than 2.3 million units globally, according to a report in MCV. 540,000 of those sales have come from the UK alone. The racing game, which received an impressive 9/10 on VideoGamer.com last year, has surpassed Codemasters’ sales expectations.

“It’s fair to say that it surpassed expectations,” Codemasters communications manager Andy Gray told MCV. “Hopefully we’ll keep this up for this year’s game.”

“There was a perception that F1 was in freefall as a games franchise as sales of the Sony titles had tailed off over the years,” Gray added. “We have some cool things up our sleeve. We have learnt a great deal in the couple of years we have been working with the licence which can only benefit the game.”

F1 2011 is due for release on September 29 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
