Coming from Iron Galaxy and Maximum Games, Extinction is a fast-paced action title. Think something along the lines of God of War crossed with Devil May Cry and you’re part of the way there.
You play Avil, one of the world’s last defenders against the endless wave of Ravenii. A rather common premise, defending the world against extinction and whatnot. Extinction promises a deep story campaign, dynamic side missions and skill-based combat.
From what’s apparent, it’s much more of a tactical affair, requiring you to target specific body parts as you take down huge ogres and more. You can travel horizontally and vertically across the terrain and environments, perform wall runs, and use your whip to vault up and perform devastating air assaults. Extinction will require you to master combat manoeuvres to effectively traverse the many giant beasts and expose their weak points, progressing along different skill trees to develop a path best suited to your play style.
So far it’s looking quite good.
Extinction is due out sometime in early 2018, coming to the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
