The NPD Group has released extended data for the May sales period in the US, revealing the sales for some of the month’s biggest releases that failed to chart in the Top 5.

Alan Wake charted at No.8 and managed to rack up sales of 145,000 units on Xbox 360. Launching alongside the blockbuster Red Dead Redemption can’t have helped, but more was expected from Remedy’s supernatural thriller.

If Alan Wake is considered to have underperformed then the new racing properties from Disney and Activision can only be described as massive disappointments. Disney’s Split/Second from Brighton-based Black Rock sold a combined 86,000 units on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 12 days, while Activision’s Blur managed only 31,000 units – the game hit stores at the end of the May tracking period, but this isn’t good start for the new IP.

Elsewhere Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia sold fewer than 100,000 units across five platforms in 12 days.
