E-Line Media has lifted the veil on Beyond Blue, a new undersea-based adventure romp that lets you explore the vast depths of the ocean and 'sense the soul' of its vast array of creatures. Sounds kinda intrusive and creepy to us, but it's probably not.

Beyond Blue takes place in the near future, and sees players exploring the depths as Mirai, the head honcho of a new research team utilising groundbreaking tech that allows the user to see, hear, and sense the dark waters in a 'more meaningful way' than ever before.

There's a story to enjoy as you embark on your crew's expedition, as well as resource management that sees you making crucial decisions regarding which objectives can be met or not.

E-Line Media has teamed up with leading ocean experts for the project, which has been billed as something of a spiritual successor to Never Alone. What's more, thanks to the BBC, players can unlock underwater footage taken from the acclaimed Blue Planet II as you progress through the game.

'Inspired by the way the Cultural Insight videos inside Never Alone brought resonance and context to a game infused with Alaska Native culture, we reached out to E-Line to explore the potential for a creative collaboration on Blue Planet II,' commented BBC Studios' Head of Digital Entertainment & Games, Bradley Crooks. 'We think there’s great synergy in the way E-Line make their games and our own approach to programme making where we care passionately about the subject matter and want to help people better understand the world in which they live.'

Beyond Blue will be released on PC and consoles in 2019. Check out the teaser trailer below.
