Fede Alvarez is in talks with Universal to direct a live-action movie based on EA’s 2010 hack & slash Dante’s Inferno, Deadline reports.
Alvarez, who directed this year’s horror reboot Evil Dead, will reportedly partner with EA vice president Patrick O’Brien and producers Eric Newman and Marc Abraham for the movie adaptation. Further details on the film, including potential actors and release date, have yet to be revealed.
Dante’s Inferno is based on the poem Divine Comedy, and follows Dante through the nine cycles of hell to rescue his lover Beatrice.
The game was developed by Dead Space studio Visceral Games and is reported to have sold around half a million copies in the US during its opening month.
In late 2010, Visceral suggested that a sequel to the game was unlikely.
