Rare has revealed Everwild, its latest project that looks like a fusion of Abzû and Breath of the Wild (via Eurogamer).

Sea of Thieves will continue to co-exist with Rare’s efforts on Everwild, the latter of which is in its pre-production stages. "While Everwild is still early in development, we are very excited about the unique potential of the game we are creating," studio boss Craig Duncan said. "The Everwild team is focused on building an experience that allows for new ways to play in a natural and magical world."

The trailer showcases a glimmering, forested, and mysterious world teeming with strange creatures. Here in the office, we’re a big fan of the deer-like animal with giant golden petals on its noggin. Characters in colourful ponchos roam the environments, taming beasts and skulking past predators, and Everwild might be multiplayer. They have a blue, a red, and a yellow person, and I’m no Einstein but those are often the colours used to differentiate between players. We can’t say for sure though because Rare is keeping mum with regard to what Everwild is actually about.

"The development team, led by executive producer Louise O'Connor, is creating something truly original and incredibly special that aims to be more than just a new IP. Everwild will give you memorable, engaging and meaningful experiences for players everywhere to share. We cannot wait to share more with you in the future," Duncan enthused.

Everwild will likely come to Xbox One and PC, though its release window was left a mystery. Watch the new trailer below.
