EverQuest II will be going fully free-to-play this December. SOE’s Dave Georgeson explained the company wants to be at the forefront of studios that work under the free-to-play model.
“We really like to give players lots of ways to pick how they want to play or pay,” he told MMORPG.com.
“If developers don’t keep quality up, they don’t make a dime.”
Previously EverQuest II incorporated aspects of free-to-play by setting up specific servers for non-subscribing users. This is the first time the game has ever fully embraced the new business model.
