Eve Online is currently being localised for the Japanese market, thanks to a new partnership between CCP and developer Nexon.
The localised Eve will allow for Japanese players to access the game in their language through the Tranquility Server, which currently hosts 350k German, Russian, and English-speaking subscribers.
Speaking on the topic, CCP CEO Hilmar Veigar Petursson said: “Having considered Nexon’s excellent reputation as Asia’s leading game developer and publisher, they were the obvious choice in who the best possible partner would be to help us make the game more accessible to our growing fan base in Japan.”
Branching out into the Asian market is thought to be one of the primary reasons for the growth rate of MMO World of Warcraft, which reached over 12 million subscribers at its peak.
Eve Online was originally released in 2003. An upcoming game set in the Eve world, Dust 514, is set to come to PS3.
