Dark Souls, the spiritual sequel to niche PS3 action RPG Demon’s Souls, will be released across Europe and North America later this year, Namco Bandai has announced.
Developed by FromSoftware, Dark Souls is set in a rich, dark fantasy universe and promises tense dungeon crawling, fearsome enemy encounters and groundbreaking online features.
Unlike Demon’s Souls, which featured a hub area linking the five game zones, Dark Souls offers a large and seamless world which encourages exploration.
Dark Souls will be available for PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011.
Demon’s Souls was a game which appealed to a strict spectrum of the PS3’s most hardcore gamers, and Dark Souls is said to offer an even greater challenge. This certainly won’t be a game for the faint-hearted.
