The imminent release of The Elder Scrolls IV expansion Shivering Isles will set a new bar for downloadable content on the Xbox 360, offering the closest thing to a full priced product the service has seen to date – Shivering Isles will be released on March 27 and will cost 2400 MS Points.

Despite the fading lines between downloadable and retail Xbox 360 releases, European Xbox box Chris Lewis believes the two mediums can happily co-exist.

There is a parallel opportunity through Live to offer demos, new levels, maps, characters etc,” Lewis told MCV. “But these complement the retail full priced product completely and are not designed to detract but more to enhance.

Lewis doesn’t think a triple-A product is likely to be released over online, pointing to practical limitations and the consumer’s wish buy at retail.

Certainly as speeds and storage increase then there will be ever more flexibility, but my own view is that people will continue to want to buy at retail. I think the two will live in harmony for some considerable time yet,” said Lewis.
