Former Epic Games director of production Rod Fergusson has announced he is leaving Epic Games to become the executive vice president of development at BioShock Infinite developer Irrational Games.

“Yes it’s true, I’m leaving my family at Epic to join my new family at Irrational in Boston starting tomorrow,” revealed Fergusson on Twitter, adding that he’s “played [BioShock] Infinite and it’s amazing! Can’t wait for you guys to get your hands on it.”

Fergusson was a popular face amongst the Gears of War community, and worked as senior producer on Gears of War 2 and executive producer on Gears of War 3, being promoted to director of production after it went gold.

Fergusson’s news has quickly followed this week’s revelation that development director Tim Gerritsen and art director Nate Wells recently left Irrational.

“Interwebs have my official permission to be unworried about Bioshock Infinite now that [Fergusson] is on the job!” said Epic Games co-founder Mark Rein. “Best of luck, bud. Ship that bad boy, I want to play it!” added Epic design director Cliff Bleszinski.

BioShock Infinite is due to be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on February 26.
