Developed by Point of View for PlayStation 2 and PC, The Shield is a third-person action game capturing the look, feel and authenticity of the hit TV show.
The game will enable players to play out moments taken directly from the series, bringing the streets of the Farmington underworld to life. The game has been developed with the cooperation of the show’s creators and talent to deliver the same action and emotional impact as the Emmy award wining TV show.
Detective Vic Mackey and the Strike Team will use their own form of policing including brute force, bribes and planting incriminating evidence. Players will have to watch their back though and ensure they manage the Heat level to keep Internal Affairs from interfering.
The game was released a while back in the US and didn’t go down too well, apparently offering a below par action experience not helped by a number of bugs. If some of the problems can be worked out the game could deliver a solid dose of action. We’ll find out when the game arrives on PlayStation 2 and PC in July 2007.
