Update: Frontier founder David Braben has confirmed that Elite Dangerous is a “timed exclusive” on Xbox One and will launch on PS4 “down the line”.

Original report: Elite Dangerous could come to PS4 following its console debut on Xbox One, Frontier has revealed.

Speaking on the game’s forums, Frontier ruled out suggestions that the game could be a console exclusive on Microsoft’s platform, stating that “we will be able to bring it to other platforms later and we’ll talk about that when we have something to announce.”

Elite Dangerous is due to arrive on Xbox One this summer, with other platforms yet to be announced. The developer promises that it won’t be “dumbed down” for its console launch, either, with the game said to offer the same “complete and authentic experience” as that offered by the PC version.

Elite Dangerous first released on PC last year following a successful Kickstarter campaign.
