Elite Dangerous: Beyond – Chapter One is getting an open beta for all PC users, Frontier Developments has revealed. The teaser will go live on January 25 and gives players a taster of upcoming Season Three content for the vibrant space shooter.

The beta will give you a chance to dip into Wing Missions, which offer challenges via team-based objectives for players around the globe to compete in. Commanders must strive to overcome various obstacles while sharing their adventures and rewards with fellow teammates.

You’ll also be able to hop into the new Chieftain, an Alliance warship that packs a meaty punch, while the GalNet Audio feature allows you to keep up to date with all the latest goings on in the game without having to leave the action, ‘bringing the ongoing narrative to the foreground at a dangerous moment for humanity’s pilots.’

Chapter One features a host of improvements across multiple gameplay mechanics, including a rejigged crime and punishment system, enhanced planet rendering technology, an overhaul of mission rewards, and tweaks to the engineering mechanics.

We’re also promised a smoother trading experience for gamers, with Frontier stating that info on the ‘galactic economy is now more freely available, allowing every commander to become a master merchant as they journey among the stars.’

Elite Dangerous: Beyond – Chapter One will roll out for PS4, PC, and Xbox One in Q1 2018 as a free update for those who own the original game.Â
