Online RPG The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited will be playable for free on PC and Xbox One this weekend, Bethesda has announced.

The promotion means that anyone can jump in and give the game a go from 8am GMT this Thursday, December 10, right the way through to 8am GMT next Monday, December 14. The game, which dropped its subscription fee back in March, usually requires an upfront cost.

To grab it on Xbox One, all you need to do is download it from the Xbox Store after the free weekend has begun. On PC, though, you’ll need to pick up a Free Play Weekend code from a friend playing ESO or one of these websites.

If you decide to purchase the game during the free weekend you’ll also get 60% off the cost and be able to continue playing from where you left off.

Crown packs will also be reduced by up to 40% off for the duration of the weekend.

  • 1,500 crown packs will be 25% off
  • 3,000 crown packs will be 33% off
  • 5,500 crown packs will be 40% off

Elder Scrolls Online first launched on PC last year before arriving on PS4 and Xbox One this summer.
