Both versions of the game will come complete with a number of standard items. Obviously you get the game disc, all on one DVD for both the Xbox 360 and PC versions (the game won’t be released on CDs). You also get a 48-page full-colour manual and a map of the game world. The regular version of the game will come in a “worn book” type packaging which apparently looks a lot like a quest book you find in the game.

For the collector’s edition you get packaging with a more leathery look to it than the regular version. An outer slip contains your platform specific information, but inside you will find a four-panel digi-pack with no platform markings. As well as the fancier packing you also get a number of bonus items. First up is a bonus DVD containing a behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of Oblivion, for which a trailer can be seen here. Also on the DVD you’ll find a collection of concept art, renders and screenshots.

Second up is a replica of a Septim (coin) that appears in the game as the official currency. Completing the package is a pocket guide to the empire, a 112-page book that looks and feels like something from Tamriel. It contains a lot of history and information on how and why things are as they are, including details on rulers, wars, great leaders, famous people, memorable events and much more.

The collector’s edition looks to be a must have for fans of the Elder Scrolls series. Both editions of the game will appear on PC and Xbox 360 and will be available in North America, the UK, Western Europe, and Australia.
